Privacy Policy for NexCal Directory

Effective 20 September 2026

NexCal helps you find business personnel and keep personal and directory contacts on your device. You do not need an account to use the app.

Who operates the app

NexCal Directory is operated by Danik (Pty) Ltd in South Africa.

Information kept on your device

The app stores your personal contacts, saved NexCal contact snapshots, recent searches and attempts to open the phone dialler on your device. This information is not synchronised to a NexCal user account. You can remove contacts and clear searches or recent call attempts in the app. Removing the app may also remove this local information, depending on your device and backup settings.

Directory searches

When you search the directory, the words and location that you type are sent to the NexCal directory service so matching published entries can be returned. The location field is text that you enter; the app does not request your device's precise location for directory searches.

Phone contacts permission

If you choose Import from Phone, you may select one contact for review or ask the app to copy all contacts your operating system allows it to access. Bulk import copies the contact name, primary phone number, company name and job title when available. Imported contacts are saved only in the app's private storage on your device; NexCal does not upload them to the directory service or automatically synchronise later changes. You can deny or limit access and add a personal contact manually.

Calls and digital cards

Choosing a call action asks your device to open its phone dialler. NexCal records the attempt locally, but does not know whether the call connected or read your system call history. Opening a digital card takes you to the card provider's website. That provider processes information under its own privacy policy.

Public directory information

Directory entries are supplied and managed by the NexCal administrator. Published entries may include a person's name, job title, business name, business type, location, digital card link and optional telephone number. Unpublished entries are excluded from public directory responses, while copies already saved by users remain on their devices.

If you apply for a free listing, we store the business and contact details you submit so that we can verify the application, contact you and administer the listing. Applications are not published automatically. You may ask us to correct or remove an application through support.

Aggregate launch measurement

You may select one preferred area for locally relevant featured campaigns. That preference stays in the app’s private storage on your device. The area text is sent to the NexCal service when the app requests matching campaigns; the app does not request GPS coordinates. An area entered in a directory search temporarily takes priority over the preferred area. Customer business adverts are separate and open only from that business’s directory result. NexCal records separate daily totals for app opens, searches, saved contacts, card opens, shares, featured-campaign views and taps, business-advert views and taps, and campaign-link visits. These totals do not contain search terms, contact details, advertising identifiers or a persistent device identifier. We use them to understand whether the directory and offers are useful and which launch partnerships are working.

Technical information

Our hosting and security systems may process ordinary connection information such as an IP address, request time, requested address, browser or device type, and security events. We use this information to deliver and protect the service, diagnose faults and prevent abuse. We do not use advertising trackers in the app or sell personal information.

Retention and choices

Information saved in the app remains until you clear it or remove the app. Directory records remain until the administrator changes or removes them. Listing applications remain while they are being reviewed and for reasonable administrative, verification and legal needs. Aggregate launch totals do not identify an individual. Technical records are retained only for operational, security and legal needs according to the hosting and backup arrangements in use.

Children

NexCal is a general business directory and is not designed for children under 13.

Your questions and requests

You may ask about information managed by Danik (Pty) Ltd, request a correction to a directory entry, or raise a privacy concern through the support address below. We may need enough information to identify the relevant entry and verify that a requester is entitled to change it.
